Sandy....

I heard about Sandy a couple of days before the storm. If I recall correctly, it was the Wednesday before. I didn't pay an awful lot of attention on the news because my co-workers did a hell of a job keeping me abreast of any updates.

As a manager I had to make sure that we had a solid bcp ( backup contingency plan) in place.

I remember during Irene, people didn't expect much to happen and it did. I was prepared that time, and I had all intentions in been equally or better prepared this time.

On Sunday, the night before Sandy hit the northeast, I went to the supermarket and stocked up. My purchase was about $300.00, yes, after coupons. That's not including my purchases at CVS and Walgreen's.

On Monday, I worked from home because I didn't want to get caught in the city during the storm.

I heard of the word howling. I, myself have used a couple if times in the past, but it wasn't until Sandy that I understood the true definition of HOWLING.

We were in the living room watching t.v. When the strange noises started. My son, who is two thought we were doing a Halloween act for them. 🎃🎃🎃Boy was he wrong....

😈😈😈😈 That was all Sandy.

During hurricane Irene I stayed up practically all night because of the large amount of rain.

Sandy was a lot drier. All I heard was the wind HOWLING and I could see the wind shaking up the trees. This time I didn't stay up all night. I knew it was bad, but never expected this tropical storm to become a monstrosity.

When I woke up the next morning, I went to make coffee before my 6:00 am call from work. As I looked out my kitchen window, I realized how bad this was. The previous day from the same window I could see a beautiful fall foliage. The trees in the brilliant fall shades cover the view to community pool in my complex. Not today. Today, I could see the pool in its entirety. There was no tree to cover it, it was in complete nudity.

During the call, no one could make it to the office. Worst yet, I could't get a hold of 90% off my team. I went to use the Internet and realized, I also had no electricity. That went on for a week. Some of the people in my complex are still powerless. Today I saw a Canadian company that came to USA to assist in restoring power in my complex. Hopefully that means that they will get power soon.

Having no electricity is nothing in relation to the damages other people have endured. thousands have lost their homes. Many lost their lives.
